Who eats local? We do, we do!

Seared Atlantic Yellowfin Tuna with Roasted Sweet Potato Fries

Alright, I know what you are saying, wasn't I just complaining that I was coming home at 10 p.m. and here I am cooking dinner darn near midnight?

Well before you begin to really think twice about my sanity, I will tell you that after many times watching me prepare this meal, hubby stepped in, prepared this meal, and really 'kicked it up a notch.' ( I hate myself a little bit for writing that but I couldn't think of a better way to tell you that he really did an incredible job!)

If you have never experienced the flavor of fresh caught fish I urge you to get off your computer immediately and head to the local fish monger (even if this means at a whole foods) and buy yourself whatever was brought in that morning. I pinky promise you will not believe the difference. This entirely local meal (except the spices, I admit!) needed very few adornments to be truly sensational. (Click on the title above for the secrets, ahem, recipes for both!)

Any other local eaters out there? Give a shout out and share your favorite local eats....

Happy eating!

Although we've not had much opportunity this year, our favorite "eating local" event starts bright and early in the morning with us heading to the mountains with our fishing gear (a fly rod for my husband and a much less cool rod and reel set up for me...for now). If all goes well, we are home at dusk with fresh catch for a late dinner. Idaho trout and new potatoes. Yes, heaven.

Very much enjoying your blog!

I make oven fries similar to that seasoned with oregano, s+p, garlic and onion powder, etc. I never tried it with sweet potatoes, though. I'm going to have to give those a try.

Amy-
Well hello out there! What a lovely little ritual you and your hubby enjoy. What mountains are near you that you can make this a regular activity? At any rate, it sounds magnificent and I would love to see photos of your journey and the lovely meal :)
Thanks for reading and happy eating!

AmandaJean-
I bet the oregano gives it some nice depth. I've always been wary of using garlic/onion powder but in this case I can see that it would be yummy. Let me know if you try the sweet potatoes and in the meantime, happy eating!

Katie-
I never thought of it as fish and chips! Great way to sell it to our someday kids.... someday. Yes, I do recall late dinner in Barcelona from a while back. I can also remember the need for some serious aleve the morning after! Good times....
All the best to you.
